Carfora: "From Southern Italy a National Leadership for Made in Italy and Italy–Algeria Cooperation"

Italy–Algeria strategic cooperation for Made in Italy: from the South a national vision for development, innovation and the future

Dinner of 27 December: economic diplomacy, institutional dialogue and new opportunities for Italian and Algerian enterprises

Naples, 30 December 2025 – Strengthening relations between Italy and Algeria by transforming institutional dialogue into concrete projects serving the Made in Italy, with particular attention to Southern Italy and Campania, yet within a fully national vision. This represents the political, economic and cultural meaning of the event held on 27 December, promoted by the Consorzio Suggestioni Campane Promotion, under the leadership of its President Luigi Carfora, also President of Confimi Industria Campania.

The initiative forms part of a structured and long-term path of economic diplomacy and international cooperation, carried forward by the Consortium at national level as a platform for relations, planning and operational support for the Italian productive system. This action generates tangible benefits also for the companies affiliated with Confimi Industria Campania, which benefit from the guidance, coordination and institutional representation ensured by President Carfora through his dual role.

A strategic partnership strengthening Made in Italy and the role of Southern Italy

During the meeting, the central role of the relationship between Italy and Algeria was reaffirmed as a strategic axis of the Mediterranean, not only from an energy and geopolitical perspective, but above all as a shared space for economic, productive and industrial cooperation, capable of generating concrete and lasting opportunities for both countries.

President Luigi Carfora underlined how the current approach of the so-called Mattei Plan, although producing significant results at the macroeconomic level and in major strategic sectors, risks remaining incomplete if not accompanied by policies capable of directly involving small and medium-sized enterprises, the true backbone of Made in Italy.

"Our goal," stated Carfora, "is to ensure that international cooperation does not remain the exclusive domain of large corporations, but becomes a concrete instrument for Italian SMEs, especially those of Southern Italy, which represent an essential and irreplaceable component of the national productive system."

Within this framework fits the partnership launched by the Consortium with ONSPEA – Organisation Nationale pour la Solidarité, la Promotion et l'Échange Associatif, an Algerian organization committed to promoting cultural, social and economic cooperation among peoples. This collaboration aims to build operational bridges between Italian and Algerian companies, encouraging exchanges, partnerships and initiatives capable of generating tangible economic and employment impacts for both countries.

The Consortium as a national platform serving enterprises

While maintaining a strong territorial rootedness in Southern Italy and Campania, the Consorzio Suggestioni Campane Promotion today operates as a national-level actor, capable of intercepting international relations and transforming them into opportunities for the entire Italian productive system.

In this context, the action of President Luigi Carfora – also in his capacity as President of Confimi Industria Campania – enables the integration of institutional relations, diplomatic networks, academia and businesses, so that the activities promoted by the Consortium translate into concrete opportunities for Confimi Industria Campania members, strengthening their competitiveness, strategic vision and international positioning.

Innovation and artificial intelligence: a challenge already underway

Considerable attention was devoted to innovation and artificial intelligence, identified as one of the major strategic challenges for the future of Made in Italy and, in particular, for the productive system of Southern Italy.

The year 2025 has already marked the beginning of a historic transition that will become fully evident in 2026: the structural entry of artificial intelligence into productive and organizational processes. This represents a profound transformation, destined to affect employment, business competitiveness and socio-economic balances, requiring responsible and forward-looking reflection by institutions, business associations and intermediary bodies.

According to President Carfora, we are facing a true Copernican shift: advanced systems and humanoid technologies powered by artificial intelligence are expected to support — and in many cases replace — functions currently performed by humans, reshaping organizational and productive models. Those unable to adapt in time risk exclusion from an increasingly fast and selective global competition.

A technology evolving faster than politics

In his address, Luigi Carfora strongly highlighted the growing gap between the speed of technological development and the pace of public regulation.

Although initial regulatory attempts exist at both European and national levels, implementation timelines remain anachronistic when compared to an innovation that evolves day by day. Artificial intelligence does not follow parliamentary calendars and develops according to its own dynamics, often driven by large multinational private corporations.

This imbalance, Carfora stressed, poses concrete risks to democratic systems, market equilibrium and labour protection. For this reason, the Consorzio Suggestioni Campane Promotion, operating at national level and in service of Made in Italy, considers it essential to urge the Italian Government and the institutions of the European Union to accelerate decision-making processes and make AI regulations effective, clear and timely.

Such rules must not remain abstract declarations of principle but must translate into concrete tools capable of supporting enterprises — especially those in Southern Italy — in a governed, sustainable and democratically compatible technological transition.

In this direction also lies the work promoted by President Carfora through a qualified network of university professors and scholars from Campanian universities, engaged in study, analysis and policy-oriented proposals aimed at guiding innovation toward the common good, the growth of Made in Italy and the balanced development of territories.

An evening of institutional relations and dialogue between peoples

The evening of 27 December saw the participation of Dr. Atmane Kissoum, Deputy Consul General of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria at the Consulate General in Naples, and Dr. Sifour Abdallah, ONSPEA Delegate for Italy. The exchange of pennants and the presentation of commemorative plaques symbolized a shared path of dialogue and cooperation destined to strengthen over time.

A particularly meaningful gesture was made by Brunella Cimadomo, journalist, who wore the traditional Algerian dress donated by ONSPEA — a sign of respect, friendship and mutual recognition between peoples, adding further human and cultural value to the event.

The evening was attended by members of the Consortium, affiliates of Confimi Industria Campania, journalists, professionals and institutional representatives. Among the distinguished attendees were Massimo Gagliardi, President of the Regional Section of Audit for Campania of the Italian Court of Auditors, a key reference figure in public financial oversight, and Salvatore Aceto di Capriglia, Full Professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Naples "Parthenope", whose presence enriched the cultural and scientific profile of the meeting.

Also noteworthy was the participation of Angelo Savino, present as a qualified representative of the field of institutional relations and communication, whose contribution further enhanced the quality of discussion and exchange.

In addition, journalists of recognized national standing, authorities and representatives of Italian and international business communities took part in the event, confirming the strong interest in structured paths of international cooperation. The presence of Hon. Francesco Barbato, Mayor of Camposano and former Member of Parliament, further elevated the institutional profile of the initiative.

A national platform for relations, development and responsibility

The event of 27 December confirms the role of the Consorzio Suggestioni Campane Promotion, led by President Luigi Carfora, also in his capacity as President of Confimi Industria Campania, as a national platform for relations, planning and economic diplomacy, capable of generating value for Made in Italy, for Southern Italy and for the entire national productive system.

A path that combines international cooperation, support for enterprises, technological innovation and institutional responsibility, with the aim of transforming major global challenges into concrete opportunities for growth, employment and shared development.
